5-Step Protocol

Follow this sequence to maximize recovery chances

Prioritize your safety and that of passengers

Step 1
  • Move away from the risk area and avoid confronting the offenders.
  • If you are driving, stop in a safe place with people or security around.
  • Do not follow the vehicle on your own.

Call 911 and report the theft

Step 2
  • Provide approximate location, time of the event and vehicle description.
  • Write down the emergency report number and reference/folio provided.
  • If your insurer has an emergency line, report the case there as well.

Contact your insurer and/or monitoring center

Step 3
  • Inform them that the vehicle has tracking technology (BLE, GPS, OEM or fleet).
  • Confirm policy details, license plate, VIN and driver information.
  • Follow the instructions from your claims or risk-management team.

Activate the available tracking tools

Step 4
  • If you have CÍCLOPE or another tracking provider, call the monitoring center.
  • For OEM services (Nissan, Chevrolet, etc.), access the official portal or app.
  • If a smartphone or device was stolen, use the official location apps (Apple, Google, Samsung).

File the report with the competent authority

Step 5
  • Go to the Attorney General's Office / local Prosecutor's Office in your state.
  • Bring ID, vehicle registration, policy, VIN and event details.
  • Request and keep the investigation file number and all official documents provided.
